CBD cigarettes are a quick and easy way to get your daily dose of cannabidiol (CBD). You won’t have to worry about nicotine or tobacco in CBD cigarettes, but you may be curious about what’s inside. This article will explain what CBD cigarettes are and why people can’t get enough of them!
CBD cigarettes (or hemp cigarettes) are made from ground hemp flower rolled in paper to resemble traditional tobacco cigarettes. However, even though these have the long, thin look of cigarettes, there’s no tobacco or nicotine in them.
Instead, hemp cigarettes contain hemp. This means they’re packed with the iconic hemp flavor (thanks to compounds called “terpenes”) and cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are also cannabis-derived compounds, though they’re different than terpenes.
Of those cannabinoids are cannabidiol (CBD) and a very small amount of THC. Hemp contains only 0.3% THC or less, which is legal in the US and not enough to induce intoxicating effects.
CBD is widely known for its soothing properties, so many people seek it out to relax after a stressful day or to help with nervousness.
There are many ways to consume CBD flower, but the cigarette form is popular because it is portable, doesn’t draw a lot of attention, and comes in a cool rectangular pack. What’s not to love?
Also, CBD flower cigarettes are modeled after a traditional cigarette’s size and weight. If you’re an ex-smoker or trying to quit, they’ll scratch that itch of needing something in your mouth. They might even help you quit smoking!
There are benefits to smoking CBD too. By inhaling CBD, your body feels the effects very quickly. The CBD moves almost directly from your lungs to your bloodstream, so you don’t have to wait long for it to kick in. Additionally, through inhalation, your body actually retains more CBD when compared to other forms of consumption (in technical terms, inhaled CBD has a higher bioavailability rate).
On the flip side, when you eat a CBD edible, it can take up to an hour for you to feel the effects. This is because the CBD is essentially digested, broken down by your liver, and then released into your bloodstream. This process not only takes longer but more CBD is lost along the way as well.
Hemp cigarettes are leaps and bounds healthier than tobacco cigarettes. Yeah, they look and feel like traditional cigarettes, but without the nicotine and other harmful additives.
Do you know what’s in tobacco cigarettes? They have tobacco, but they also have a bunch of other chemicals like acetone and benzene. But with hemp cigarettes, you know exactly what you’re smoking: all-natural hemp and rolling papers, that’s it.
The CBD in hemp cigarettes is beneficial to your endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS helps maintain regulatory balance in many bodily functions like breathing, digestion, and heart rate.
Another benefit of CBD cigarettes is the “entourage effect.” This is what happens when all the compounds of cannabis (yes, including that 0.3% THC) synergize and work together to bring you the best experience possible. This effect is more evident in full-spectrum CBD product online because that little extra THC makes the entourage complete. Since the THC is kept below 0.3%, you won’t feel groggy, paranoid, or high.
The main and most important difference is what the cigarette is packed with. CBD cigarettes are packed with hemp, while marijuana cigarettes are packed with…yup, marijuana.
But what’s the difference between hemp and marijuana? They are both categorized under the genus Cannabis and contain CBD and THC, but it’s the levels of those cannabinoids that make all the difference.
The difference is in the percentage of THC in each plant. Marijuana has far more THC than hemp, averaging a THC level of around 12%. Hemp, as you know, must contain less than 0.3% THC.
Why is THC so important? THC is the cannabinoid responsible for the psychoactive, “high” effects associated with marijuana. To put it simply: marijuana cigarettes will get you high, and CBD cigarettes will not.
CBD cigarettes and CBD pre rolls are essentially the same, with the only difference being how the hemp is packaged and presented to you.
Let’s start with their similarities. They’re both packed with all-natural, ground hemp flower and rolled with paper (traditional rolling paper, or sometimes even rice or hemp paper).
CBD cigarettes, as their name indicates, are share the same shape and packaging as traditional cigarettes. They’re uniform, slim, and organized in a pack. We roll each cigarette tightly and top them with a mesh filter that is typically cotton, hemp, or recyclable material.
CBD prerolls, on the other hand, look like joints. They look hand-rolled, with hemp packed heavily on the tip and then tapering down to the other end. The filter is usually a folded piece of paper in the thinner end.
Nope. Nada. A hard no.
I can’t emphasize this enough: CBD cigarettes, or hemp cigarettes, have NO tobacco and contain NO nicotine.
This is a good thing, especially if you’re trying to quit smoking. Hemp cigarettes might be exactly what you need to push you over the hump and finally ditch the smokes.
Marijuana is still not legal in many states, but CBD flower made from hemp is federally legal. As long as it’s hemp (0.3% THC or less) and not marijuana (more than 0.3% THC), it is legal!
Some states have certain restrictions on some types of CBD, so it’s a good idea to double-check your state laws for what is permissible. However, online CBD sales are legal in all 50 states.
There isn’t a cut and dry answer to this question because it depends on the state you live in, the type of CBD, and the store you’re buying from. However, you must be at least 18 years old. In some situations, you have to be 21.
Many marijuana dispensaries won’t even let you enter unless you’re 21, so obtaining CBD products there can be difficult if you’re not of age. But then, at the same time, other smoke shops may let you buy CBD cigarettes online if you’re 18.
As I said before, it’s good practice to confirm your state laws when it comes to CBD. You may even want to call businesses ahead of time to see their requirements.
Or just buy them online! Online CBD sales are legal, and there are measures in place to make sure you’re 18. It takes away most of the hassle so that you can do less shoppin’ and more smokin’!
If hemp cigarettes aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy cannabidiol (CBD):
Hollyweed started with a sign. In 2017, multimedia artist and plant advocate Zach Fernandez changed the iconic Hollywood sign to read Hollyweed. Soon afterward, what started as a stunt turned into a symbol. It became a representation of Southern California cannabis culture – of chill vibes and the freedom to smoke.
From this movement emerged Hollyweed CBD, a partnership with Zach to bring LA culture to the CBD world. From flowers to tinctures, we make everything from high-quality, all-natural, USA-grown hemp.
But more than that, we design our products to capture the essence of SoCal. Just light up a preroll, kick up your feet, and you’ll see…the sun will be a bit brighter, your stress will fade away, and you might even hear waves crashing in the distance.
CBD cigarettes have the look and feel of cigarettes, but you’re smoking hemp instead of tobacco. In a lot of ways, this is more beneficial for your physical and mental health.
So, if a caring friend or family member bursts into your room, rips the cigarette out of your mouth, and lectures you on the health effects of smoking tobacco, you can tell them, “This isn’t a cigarette; it’s CBD!” You’ll probably have some explaining to do, but at least you know you’re taking healthy steps forward. The next time you get that smoking urge, CBD cigarettes will be there to satisfy it!
